Will your business survive the most important transition in human history?

The Most Important Transition in Human History

Renaissance Consulting Group helps disruptors and difference-makers lead the world forward with their values.

We live in an age of unprecedented upheaval and crisis. The only constant is constant change.
What happens if you’re a one-trick pony in a constantly changing world, and your trick stops working?

The theme of modern business is disruption. So much so that a lot of businesses that were considered disruptors a decade ago now make us say, “The new business looks a lot like the old business.”

And the businesses who don’t embrace disruption, and become leaders in it, will become victims of it.
Growth builds on growth. And as the innovation continues in cutting-edge industries of the future – from Web3 and Blockchain and FinTech, to Space, to Medical Technology, to Big Data, AI, Robotics and 3D Printing, and so many more – each new innovation drives the innovation and development of every other industry.
This parabolic growth is carrying us toward the most important transition in human history.
Virtually every generation has believed it is pivotal, it is the most important, that the world is ending, and on and on. And we have defined the different ages of humanity by its major technological and ideological transitional periods – the bronze age, the iron age, the renaissance (or rebirth), the industrial revolution, the age of enlightenment.

But two things make this transitional period different:

(1) the level, speed, and capability of technological advancement,

and (2) the depth of interconnectedness.
This is the most important transition in human history because it will shape the entire course of our future.
It is an undeniable fact that the world has never changed so rapidly as it does now. And that the world has never been so interconnected as it is now.
Technology is changing everything about what we do and how we operate. The old economy and the old way of doing things are gone, and the businesses who embrace the change and the interconnectedness will be the businesses that survive, thrive, and lead in the future.

There will (hopefully) be a time in the future when humanity is ready to make another leap. But it will be built on the back of what we do, or don’t do, now.

The possibilities have never been greater.

So what’s holding us back?  The Medici family fueled the Renaissance for several decades with about as much money as a billionaire pays for a new yacht.

We’re clearly not lacking resources or capabilities.
We’re lacking vision.

Lead or be left behind.

In times of crisis and turmoil like ours, the geniuses, changemakers, and disruptors shine. This is your time to be a global leader and change the way the world works.
Crisis causes people to inflect and self-examine, to reflect on society and its successes and failures and direction and vision, to rethink what they know, and to look for new ways of doing things.

Technological advancement is enabling an opportunity for transition that has never been possible before in human history.

Some people want to use our capabilities to entrench the present order and the way business is done. Others want to innovate and to use it as a disruptor and to change the way the world works.
What’s driving these competing visions of the future?
Our vision is driven by our values.
What’s your vision of the future? That’s how you’ll act in the present.
Actions are just beliefs brought to life, because you do what you believe.
And that’s all values are – the motive behind purposeful action.

I spent the first decade of my career as a political consultant. I won about 85% of my races, working for underdogs in a highly partisan environment.

The biggest lesson I learned from this experience was that the most effective way to communicate is through your values.
People don’t care about the 10-point policy plan. They care about the person’s values behind the plan, and on how that will help them and their family.

What I’ve learned since is much more important than just communicating through your values –

The most meaningful way to live your life and run your business is through your values.
Every corporation nowadays has a set of “core values” proudly displayed on their wall.
But values aren’t what you say, they’re what you do. You don’t have to tell anyone your core values, they’re going to see them in everything you do – or don’t do.

Your values will determine if your business leads this transition or gets destroyed by it.

I have been talking about this transition since 2009, when I started this company in the middle of a global financial crisis. And it’s only more true over a dozen years later.
This is why I chose the name Renaissance. The Renaissance was a time of transition, but also of disruption and upheaval. It was a rebirth, a bridge between the old and new.
Like today, it was a period of technological and ideological revolution. The advent of the printing press brought the spread of new ideas to more people more rapidly than ever before. And it caused sea-changes in every aspect of life, from commerce to religion to politics to culture.
In times of crisis, the businesses that are unprepared and fail to adapt are relegated to the scrap pile of history.
Over 95% of all businesses fail anyway, even in the best of times.
The opportunities of the future are greater. But so will be the risks, disasters, and crises.

How strong our values are, and how consistently we act through them, will determine the course of our future.
